My experience with chain drive motorcycles: Chain wear results in the chain stretching (chain becomes longer) and the sprocket teeth wear down (become smaller). Close visual inspection is needed to determine when to replace these parts. Don't use a new chain with an old sprocket or vice versa. .....Krug
